Does anyone know whether there is a list of surviving locomotive turntables (UK) or if not perhaps we can come up with the locations?

There's one in bits, but destined for Stratford Upon Avon eventually, on the car park at Tyseley.
I'll try to find out where it was originally from when I go back to work on Wednesday.

Thanks Bean-counter, I have just found the Darlington one (a 65 footer). Looks like it has been sold to the Guy's at Weardale.

One at Swindon too: visible on Google maps and on street view. Penzance Drive, then east a bit.

    Try this:
    http://www.heritagerailways.com/coachdb.html
then go onto the The Railway Heritage Register Turntable Survey Project page.
Reasonably comprehensive but if you are aware of others please let them know. VCT try to keep their surveys as up-to-date as possible.

Had heard a rumour that WCRC wanted NR to refurbish it in view of increased steam traffic out of KX and lack of paths on the current round-the-houses routing using the North London line, etc. Whether this is merely rumour or now fact I don't know. Would be interesting if they did repair it!

Pete Waterman is opening the restored Peak Rail Turntable this Saturday at 11.00am at Rowsley South. 8F 48624 will be the 1st loco to be officially turned and will then operate the day's timetabled services.

I do have a question about turning steam locos at Hornsey. Duchess of Sutherland visits Kings Cross in Nov/Dec time, and I assume it uses the North London Line to turn for the return trip. But last year this line was disconnected because of the engineering works. How was this loco turned if the triangle lines there was not available? Would it have gone to Willesden or Stratford or elsewhere?

By Hornsea, do you mean the one in Ferme Park sidings?

There's some construction work going on near it at the moment, but haven't been close enough in the last couple of weeks to see if it has been affected. There's also been rumours that it will be removed.

The one at Ferme Park has collapsed pit walls, hence the reason for it's lack of use.

Quainton Road also has a turntable, not installed, ex Hitchin.

There is still a turntable at Hither green depot and still rail connected. I think it's still used for turning track machinery on but I don't know what size the table is?
