........Meanwhile back on topic, I have now booked on this. I gather that it is filling up fast. That's not particularly surprising when you think about it.

Not surprising at all even though it's a fair old commitment to book six months in advance.

There is the outside chance that we will be given a FL path to Reading for a change as there are no intermediate pickups. We can but hope but I suspect there will be no space for that luxury.

No. It was detuned by a Mr. Jarvis.

Probably not critical for most on this forum, but it's being widely reported on other forums that D1015 (which was supposed to be hauling the return sector) had an extremely serious engine failure yesterday and has been withdrawn from all future trips for the moment.

I wonder if A1LST will try and source another heritage diesel? It would be a bit sad if it was just a 67!

That would be the logical choice, another pres diesel with a big following, certainly the premium price starts to look a little suspect if an "in house" class 67 turns up, not to mention theoretically there are 3 mainline Deltics available, surely one could take it on.

That would really make my day. ECML super power on each leg. Nevertheless I hope the reported damage to the 52 isn't too great.

Sad but other heritage diesels are available. Let's hope for a substitute.

Sounds expensive. Has 22 failed too or are you referring to a past incident?

Not sure how up to date this info is but just read the on the DTG web site :
"On the return from Scarborough D1015 experienced a problem with B engine. Initial assessments were that this was serious enough to withdraw the loco from traffic. However in the cold light of day and after some reflection it is now felt that we should wait until the Loco returns to the Severn Valley and a full and thorough inspection of the problem is undertaken by the DTG Engineering Staff. Further news will be posted after this inspection has taken place. As things stand today the loco is still available for all previously advertised rail tour duties until notified otherwise."

22 had that exact failure a few years back but is fine now AFAIK.

I understand D1015 now confirmed unavailable "for most of this year" so will have to see what can be found for the return.

I've read elsewhere that D9009 is taking D1015's place on the latter's booked tour in June so maybe she'll get the May gig as well.
