I see the event page for the roaring twenties event has a timetable. Four full round trips (and the Saturday Jazz Night train) plus three shuttles (two to Capel Bangor and one to Aberffrwd). Assuming 8 & 1213 are on the main trains, I wonder what is on the shuttles.

Just announced - the railway will be hosting a guest locomotive for the event. Hunslet No 707 "Britomart" normally resident on the Ffestiniog Railway will be guest locomotive for the event and hauling the shuttle trains to either Capel Bangor or Aberffrwd.

"Britomart" will haul standard Vale of Rheidol carriages. Likely to be one summer car, one enclosed carriage and a 4 wheeled brake van. The brake van contains a compressor to provide air for the on train brakes. A brake valve on the locomotive will control the brakes. The same arrangement was used when "Palmerston" visited in 2014, and has also been used when "Margaret" and "Sybil Mary" operated shuttle trains in 2015.

Ingenious! Query.... is train braking under the control of the driver from the loco, or the guard in the brake van?

Braking is controlled by the driver. The Guard does however have an emergency brake valve.

No, he didn't travel with us although he was mentioned in passing when I asked someone if the Permaquip had been done up especially for our trip.

I cabbed No7 in 1975 when I was 4, changing my life forever. Desperately want to see her back on the rails again

There's a fascinating "Then and Now" shot at Devil's Bridge. Could anyone hazard a date for the "then" shot? My guess is pre-WWI Cambrian era, but what's under that wide roof third from the rear? I had thought all original VoR stock pretty much the same width. Clearly not!

    As an interesting 'what if'

I wonder how 'Russell' from the WHR would perform if it were ever to visit?
