    Anyway...... back to the tour!

Left Inverness on time, but slipped on climb to Ravens Rock due to a flange greaser. After hand sanding got going again. Arrived KoL 110 late, left 23 late, got back into Inv 7 late after a superb run back.

I agree with Mark, its just Franks "sod you,im a photographer, video is second rate because I dont do it" attitude.
On Hemerdon last tuesday two guys actually asked if their camera shutter/motor drive would be intrusive, what a refreshing change,co-operation.Whatever next.
This is my last post on this.Just want ot hear how tour went now. :-#

UNFAIR (and uncalled for). I dont think that would be Franks attitude - nor does his post infer it.

    Well said Ralph !
I understand that people still using 35mm camera's can't switch the 'clicks' off, they also can't take a shot every second for 20 seconds so i don't think they are the culprits. This therefore leaves the digital camera users and to be honest I've yet to come across a digital camera that doesn't have an option to switch the 'clicks' OFF. If this was done then everyone would be happy.

Come on 'clicky chaps ' read the instructions you don't need fake shutter noise !!

There are a lot of people who now own digital SLRs but do not know how to take a proper photo. They stick it in continous shoot on the "green square" and think they will get a great shot out of it. These are the people that cause the problem. Many can be identified with ease as the built in flash pops up every time!

Compacts all have the option to turn off the cheesey clicks and film users are more aware of the cost of their art...

Well, the DSLR's do have a rather annoying Shutter sound,i don't think that can be turned off,but at least it could be said whether it does it or not! If its of the "fake" variety i.e electric sound then that is annoying, and i think this a topic that needs to go to photography section,so the "Quiet on set" brigade can have their say, another thing annoying is the constant bickering that sometimes happens when doing a vid near a lot of photographers, its the same as someone standing with their head in your photo essentially

Could you have a better example of the spoilt baby syndrome?! Perhaps this is where the apt description "vidiot" was spawned.

We all have a right to enjoy the hobby in our own way, and - no - I don't use a motor drive - so back in your box and don't be so hasty to judge next time. The Mrs is taking video so I do know what I am doing, and when I have a plonker next to me.

What's he going to do next - shoot the magpies?

Peter did a cracking job yesterday, but we did encounter one particularly unhappy ocurrence. Why, on a train with full - and I mean full - catering facilities on board, does the driver's Mrs have to buy him a cup of tea from the platform buffet because he's getting nothing anywhere else, or the support crew have to buy eight lots of fish and chips after being up for nine hours+ before arriving at Kyle?? Come on promoters - a cuppa and a bite isn't that expensive for the guys who ARE making it happen.

Glorious sunny morning in Elgin - A fellow Cunarder got us a complimentary - presidential suite no less - howdo you ever repay kindness like that??

    Here we go again!

Watch the posting rate rise when I put something up!

Chaps - you want no extraneous noise - buy a directional mike - 30 degree "hearing"angle and I can be laughing out loud at your precious " me me me" attitude and the mike won't hear a thing.

Must go - things to do, places to go, witchfinders to annoy!! \:D/

Was there no support coach on this leg Frank? after all they, in my experience, are the ones who look after the footplate crew.

This thread has had hardly anything to do with the run of the K4 to Kyle and back bar the occasional mention of progress!!

Three pages of absolute pointless droning about camera shutters.....I ask you.....only the third or fourth occasion that a steam locomtive has ventured to Kyle and throughout this 'ping pong' match over video or photograph and there isn't one posting with either moving or still footage!!

    Highlander.

    viewtopic.php?f=49&t=19056

Anyone got any photos/video of Saturday's run?
