Just seen this bit of info via Facebook

Steam Dreams have emailed passengers with details of what may happen for Saturdays tours.
    1. Use steam loco Oliver Cromwell
    2. Run the tours with Diesel
    3. Postpone the tours for a new date although this will need agreement from Network Rail and West Coast before this is decided

Steam Dreams will update all passengers when they have news, hopefully before 17:00 tomorrow

SD told the BBC this about todays events:
"Steam Dreams, which operates Flying Scotsman's journeys, said there was a fault with the hot axle box on the right-hand driving wheel."
A video on YouTube supports this as the support crew can be seen investigating the driving wheel while Scotsman rests in the siding.

So it seems I was lucky to see it come storming past me between Peterborough and Spalding then... sure the NVR folk will have it running again soon :)

Didn’t take long for the NVR to try and make money from Scotsman’s misfortune, and why not?

Maybe taking a leaf out of Didcot Railway Centre's book with its contemporary "seize-the-moment" initiative with Tornado..........
    http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/news/latest.html#news01

Obviously the shed-loads of appeal generated by these iconic LNER machines will help to lure visitors to these fortunate Heritage Centres over the coming days. Perhaps there the similarities end, because Tornado's appearance at Didcot, unlike Scotsman's at Wansford, definitely isn't born of "misfortune"and will be for more than just a few days.

But either way, anything and everything that gets these celebrity machines (and Tornado seems to have this quality in spades at the moment) in front of an admiring - and paying - public has got to be applauded. So wishing both NVR and DRC every success with their respective ventures.

If they have the Turntable Café open at Wansford, then one of their Double Burgers :Hungry: and a platform ticket may be an excuse to try out a 28-200mm lens for a Nikon F60 in my possession at the moment...

Good for the NVR to be so proactive.
I must admit I do not get the whole FS euphoria thing but except that is special to a lot of people, especially the general public. Therefore if you book an FS trip surely you expect FS not Cromwell (which I would see as an improvement) or certainly a diesel, partial refund or not (assuming one is offered). Maybe just a "holding " email from Steam Dreams but I would see postponement as the only option

Does NVR have a wheel drop ? Repairing a driving wheel axlebox might take some time.

Cranes have been booked so I'm told so if true, looks like they're going to lift her.

A few close up shots of Scotsman on Wansford shed, minus it's middle wheelset, which had been low loaded away to Riley's. I was told that the wheelset should be expected back tomorrow, and following reassembly, should do running in on the Nene Valley before leaving for mainline duties.

You have to admire the pace at which Ian Riley's team swings into action when they have to.
