Tender journal scrapping size questions

    If your worried about the scrapping size of the journal and you dont want to replace the axle, maybe you can find a spare Fowler tender wheel lying around some railway. I guess there are very few place's you can get a forged axle in the UK, it's just a thought. I am not so sure who can press the axles on either.

    Good idea - but I don't now if there are any spare fowler or other LMS tenders around these days, as most are assigned to locos?? Anybody?

    As regards making a new axle and pressing the wheels on....well that's a whole other ball game. Sounds expensive. Anybody done this? Braunton presumably has the same issue?

    Doesn't Ian Riley have the capability of pressing axles onto wheels?

    Apologies if this is drifting off thread but -
    Is ther anything Ian Riley doesn't have the capability to do?
    (apart from paint locos Brunswick Green)!
