I believe SLL are still hoping to have 34072 "257 Squadron" back in steam on Swanage metals by then.
So, at the moment, the "Strictly Bulleid" Spring Steam Gala line-up looks like it might be 34052; 34070 and 34072 plus (?) others.
I would have thought SLL would also like the opportunity of 34053 "Sir Keith Park" operating with34070 and 34072 - but we'll have to wait and see I guess.
    UPDATE
Looks like SLL may not quite get 34072 into running condition by then although it might be a close run thing. Anyway, here's hoping.

As it's a tank destroyer I'm afraid tender locos are not suitable targets,

Any WC locos? I know 34046 is running as 34052 so all are Battle of Britain.

    City of wells/wadebridge ?

34007 I believe is now out of ticket.

Pity 34046 is still going to be running in its fictitious ID. I did hear from a normally reliable source that a return to being Braunton was scheduled for early 2017. Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer. Hopefully all the other engines will be spared this defacement and will run with their correct numbers and names.

At several locations as it's not in one piece at the moment. It's under overhaul.

As for 34072, work is ongoing on the middle cylinder. This needs to be completed before the smokebox is permanently attached, which is anticipated to be February. Then I presume there is the completion of the plumbing and the reattachment of the casing before final painting. However, I don't recall that this gala was really a target for completion; it merely provided a 'would be nice if...' scenario, as the overhaul is running to schedule now the boiler's back. I'm sure NickT will confirm.

    Spread widely.
Currently - Boiler at South Devon (new front tubeplate awaiting fitting), Frames at Tyseley and other bits at Herston Works.
Anyone interested in helping SLL finance continued work should get in touch: http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/Company/Contact.html
I'm sure they'd appreciate additional working capital.

It's German - 'tenderlok' means something rather different over there, so I think they are all safe!

Maybe 34067 on a mainline railtour would be nice, bringing in more passengers

I'm afraid you may be waiting a long time for that. Rumoured that the firebox has been condemned with major cracking, the extent of which, if true, would mean another 'Taw Valley' job. As other locomotives are in the queue, I doubt it will be addressed in a hurry.

Any reason the 34073 boiler couldn't be used for a quick fix?
Is it coincidence that the two locos that have been frequently outstationed from Carnforth, 44932 being the other, seem to have ended up needing major boiler surgery? Southern water?

A question of ownership? I'm not entirely sure whether 34073 is owned by DS or JB, and that it's boiler will find its way onto 34016. Happy to be corrected, though.

Fair enough. I made an assumption 34067 and 73 have a common owner.

The problem is that the flanges for the steam pipes have wasted away and need to be renovated, work is in hand, to be carried out early in the New Year.

SLL report that 257 Squadron will not be available. However, 6 light pacifics may be available but it is going to cost a lot of money to get them to Swanrail. We have not even talked about MN's though.....

In case forum members wonder what public transport is like - the two bus routes serving Swanage are:
Route 40: http://morebus.co.uk/service.shtml?serviceid=3920 calling at Wareham Station [stop close to London bound platform exit] en-route to/from Swanage.
Route 50: http://morebus.co.uk/service.shtml?serviceid=3921 starts in bus/coach area outside Bournemouth Station [Down side] and uses the Sandbanks-Studland ferry to Swanage.
The above timetables are currently operational but I think they may still apply during the "Strictly Bulleid" steam gala [31 March - 2 April].
You can contact them via enquiries@morebus.co.uk nearer the time just to confirm timings.
South West Trains services are here: https://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/g...s/pocket-tt-dec-2016/ptt-28-december-2016.pdf

I would recommend the 50 service from Bournemouth as a transport experience in itself. You get the Sandbanks chain Ferry included in the bus ride, and the scenery on the ride from the Ferry terminal to Swanage on Purbeck is stunning.

Take a seat on the top deck and enjoy!

    Robin

The route from Wareham is not too bad either especially when going via Kingston and looking back down onto Corfe...
