60009 Union of South Africa still rostered (subject to availability, etc.) on this RTC trip.
    Outward: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U ... 8/advanced
    Return: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U ... 8/advanced
Likely to have a diesel on the back, I suspect, due to train having to be hauled back to Southampton as usual. 60009 then hauls it via Redbridge, Dean and Andover back to London Victoria.
I don't think this A4 has ventured to Swanage before - and might be the only time it does before the owner adds it to his new museum in Scotland.

I booked on this today to use up some credit I had from another trip I couldn't travel on last year. I have my fingers crossed hoping that No.9 will be ready in time. I don't know what else could take her place at the moment if she is not available.

I think it may be a first on a railtour (if it is fixed in time, although I heard end of June before it is back). However Bittern in its Dominion of Canada guise has visited Swanage.

Yes I am an active volunteer
Bittern has also visited Swanage in its Bittern guise (April 2012, ran round at Southampton and did the last leg tender first so that it could head back up the SWML smoke box first all the way)

Anyone have any idea about either of those uncertainties?

Hasn't 35018 recently been undertaking test runs in the north west?

What is 35018? There has been a black hybrid thing with 98818 painted on it and Bodmin nameplates running around up North ;)

On a more serious note I thought that 35018/98818/"Bodmin" wasn't coming South yet as Marcus Robertson wanted to use her on SD trips but was told by WCRC that she wasn't available in the South when first outshopped? It would be great if she did turn up on The Swanage Belle but I can't see it happening just yet......

I would imagine WCRC may want to run it up North for a bit so it is close to Carnforth, but you never know.
Other options I guess get somewhat limited. Maybe Galatea or Leander come down from up North or Scots Guardsman if still in ticket.
I have heard it said that Locomotive Services are not keen on having their locos towed on the back of a train so the Swanage Southampton leg may not appeal to them so if true that would ruke of

Not sure what happened as uploaded post before I finished, but will now finish previous post.
That would rule out Royal Scot and Braunton. Not sure if any Black 5's are not in Scotland at the moment.
I guess we are not awash with locos again
