A bit of a shameless plug, but I thought members of the forum with an interest in coaches would be interested to read that the North Norfolk Railway's lottery funded Suburban 4 set was successfully launched into service today following a six year restoration:

    C&W Blog - Suburban 4 Launch

After being absent from the "suburban club" since the early 2000's due to their declining condition, the NNR are pleased to rejoin the Worth Valley, Llangollen, Tyneside etc in having a presentable and operational Suburban set.

They look very impressive. With the last coach in the vintage set well on the way to restoration, are thoughts turning yet to a funding and restoration strategy for the Gresley coaches?

Excellent stuff. And nice to see a couple of the GCR's cast-offs finally get the restoration they deserve (46139 & 48001). Well done.

Yes, fairly detailed planning is in place and it is anticipated that funding the first coach of the Gresley set will not be a problem. As far as I know the first coach for this set will enter the works when the last member of the Vintage Set (currently in progress) leaves it.
