Well we have been mentioning a Cambrain theme to people when we have been out and about but due to things beyond our control we can no longer do this so we are rejigging our plans.

However if you have any ideas then feel free to suggest them here and shall see what we can do.

I can only confirm that despite are valiant efforts Betton Grange will not be running at the gala but will be available for viewing at the shed.

Apart from that everything is under the official secrets plank what i will be hit with for even speaking of any kind of event.

Journey back in time??? You wouldn't see that many loco's coupled together from the BR/Steam era unless they were on their way to Barry!! So are the Bluebell going to compete with this at their next gala??!

    Re: And it begins...

SSS Act 2 will be another journey back in time - recreating history. A large cast of performers will again entertain their audience alongside the River Dee, with the awesome mountainous scenery as the backdrop. Then just like theatre, the cast will hold hands (Buffers in this case!) at the end of the performance and take a well earned curtain bow (or two).

As the script is still being written and the cast list assembled, nothing can be revealed just yet except for the dates of the 9 day show.

Please put the 18th - 26th APRIL 2009 in your diaries and pass on the 'You Tube' link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWu9ejU1bjw to your friends.

    Thanks

    Re: And it begins...

Are you thinking in terms of the cavalcade idea? In which case the Bluebell wasn't trying to compete with SSS1...

(...we did better, although that was probably due to a superior collection of motive power ;-) )

The humour and passion of the Betton lads is what never ceases to amaze me! Good on you guys, I'm no GWR fan but I've got to say I support the Grange just because the people are such a good bunch!

    Re: And it begins...

Nice to see you're being as supportive as last time Dave...

We were doubted last time and proved everyone wrong. We are more than prepared to do this again.

SSS1 we just wanted to show it can be done, now we want to find our limit which is why we are trying a 9 day event. The buzz created over the weekend last year has yet to be repeated at LLangollen, it was something not only enjoyed by the visitors but the volunteers aswell.

However with it being a bigger event there needs to be bigger promotional push. The advert on my youtube account has been sent to numerous coach companies and we have already had a few responses. Our leaflet is going to be bigger because we will be have more things going on.

This gala is a bigger risk than any other gala. Normally a rly runs a gala and if its poor they have another chance 6months away to improve and can also recover if needs be from normal services. We however can't do this, as we aren't a rly. We have 1 shot and 1 shot only, so we need to succeed first time, which is why we go out of our way to make sure we have the best chance of doing this. Hopefully we impress you enough to get you to visit.
