    The oldest operational locomotive in the Severn Valley Railway’s fleet, former Port Talbot Railway 0-6-0ST No. 813, has returned to steam after a six-year overhaul.

    The unique locomotive made its first moves under its own steam since September 2009 on August 9. No. 813 has spent the last week running light engine on test runs over SVR metals.

    The locomotive’s first loaded test run on the Bridgnorth-Kidderminster line took place a week later on August 16, with three GWR ‘Toplight’ coaches.

    It is anticipated that the Hudswell Clarke-built locomotive will return to service for the SVR’s Season Finale gala on November 4-6.
