Subject to the completion of a couple of repairs and further testing running tomorrow evening S160 6046 should be hauling passengers at the CVR this coming weekend.

We are still waiting on a couple of parts for the air pump and if they are not received in time then 6046 will run with one of the class 33's to provide air for brake system on 6046.

The timetable on operation will be the green timetable as seen at the following link: Timetable

    Regards

    Chris

Is the S160 still expected to be working this weeken? A mate rang the railway at lunchtime and was told another problem had been found?

As I type we are just about to leave the shed light engine to get some more miles on the clock to prove some repairs all being well 6046 will haul the 3,4 and 5th from Cheddleton today.

Seems a rather important bit of news not to share on the CVR website? 6046's first passenger workings, subject to the usual disclaimers?

    Great pictures Frank,

6046 is cracking loco steams well, very good brakes and the valve timings are that sharp i dont think i have heard another loco sound like that!

Still a few niggles to sort out before she finally enters traffic.

    Thanks Chris!

I was impressed with its departure leaving Froghall, nice to have the S160 sound back. You guys have done a cracking job!

Just got home after a wasted Sunday. Went to the CVR for a ride behind the S160 only to find that it had failed again and trains were diesel-hauled instead. I fully accept that teething problems can occur on a loco new to traffic and I was prepared for this which is why I attempted to ring the CVR at about 10.30 before I set off to check whether it the S160 was running, but it appears not to be possible to contact the railway by phone at weekends (i.e. when trains are running) - the phone is only answered during office hours Monday to Friday (i.e. when trains are not usually running) - a rather strange.arrangement.

I found the same thing with the annoying phone system - after repeated calls to select the several different options available, I still couldn't find the information I wanted! Plus, the website is difficult to navigate in the extreme - I'm a web designer and, while I found the timetables without a problem, I could not find the calendar to tell me which one applied today! So glad that, out of sheer frustration, I decided to keep my money in my pocket and not make the trip!

    From the NYMR website

"S160 6046 sadly won’t make the steam gala, we are hoping to see it in 2013 "

BR livery looks quite at home, how about a BR blue 1970's :)

Considering it hadn't even worked a public train when they said it was going out on hire, this isn't really a surprise.
