    Llangollen- Raising the Standard gala

An excellent set of photographs. While working in the c & w yard at Pentrefelin for the 3 days I saw most of the trains and noticed a severe shortage of passengers. You couldn't wish for better weather, so where was everybody ?

With so many gala's on the same weekend unfortunetly numbers were likely to be down, as for myself I was hoping to go tenting but left my sleeping bag in the dry cleaner's, so I opted to stay local and visit KLLR for the first time.

I attended the Friday and Saturday of this event and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was clear though that numbers riding were down. I did wonder whether this was because Llangollen patrons have come to expect that the railway will put on 'mega' galas as they did earlier this year and refuse to go to the more usually sized events.

    Just a thought.

    Regards

I was there on the Saturday night Real Ale train and all day Sunday.
Throughly enjoyed it particularly 80072 which gave made some fine runs.
Visitor numbers were lower than expected.
