The 'International' plats at Waterloo will be closed again by Oct 2017.
They're only open temporarily for the Aug 2017 blockade of plats 1-9 then close for more work.

I'm on the Devon Belle, where would the engine turn at Exeter?

It would appear that it doesn't need to; arrive via SR main line and depart on GW.

The Tin Bath 5th March and The Royal Scot 25th March are no longer listed on the website.

Braunton is now shown as the motive power for the Royal Wessex (The SD trip on the same date which had Braunton listed, has been postponed to the 23rd September).

Not surprised. There was only room for one trip through Edale at this time of year. If the Royal Scot went to Glasgow as planned, I'd have booked on it. However one hour in Perth is too little time before heading back south.

I just really wish sometimes that there was more of a grip on loco assignments period. It is a balancing act between many people however.

Drat, I had booked on the first Buxton and had it cancelled so moved to the Royal Scot, so now it's try the Midday Scot instead.

Oh, yes. Why not have a pop at a VOLUNTEER steward's expense, even though said steward is actually implying that he's on the cushions? What a fine pair of specimens.

Just got letter from RTC, Royal Scot 25th March "cancelled due to insufficient bookings." This is my third failed attempt to visit Perth by steam: back in the 80s 60009 failed at Dundee with a tender hot box, last year the PMR tour was cancelled because of lack of stock and now this. Let's hope things improve during the spring and summer.

I'm hoping that the refreshing approach seen by @meltonnorth regarding the Buxton Spa Express heralds a new era for the Steam Tour Business. Stating openly that a tour will be pure team in advance must have had an impact on late sales (plus some discounting). More of the same please and lets get these tours booked up. As you say, spring and summer are almost upon us and many tours to consider.

Wrong again. Ralph's booked on this. Still, getting things wrong seems to be a speciality of yours.

Yawn... I KNOW he was booked on a train as a PASSENGER. He made that clear. But his chosen trips have hit problems and he is not getting what he originally wanted. Is volunteering work? Yes. Does he work as a volunteer for RTC tours? Yes. Has it given him an advantage on intelligence in this case? No.

Volunteer - Work for an organisation without getting paid. Lots of us do it.

    Grumble away....

By my definition, volunteering is a labour of love or a point of principle, not work. If it was work, I'd expect to be paid for it.

I've always thought that volunteering is about escaping everyday drudgery, and doing something new, potentially worthwhile and contributing to something bigger than one's self. In any case, I think you are somewhat oversimplifying people's motives for doing things.

It also tangentially explains why you don't really acknowledge the efforts put in by volunteers in maintaining mainline steam, or on heritage railways for that matter. The fact that the promoter actually depends on these volunteers to deliver the goods just as much as the TOC is plain to see, but as it's clearly 'just' work, they aren't really worth any comment. Thanks for enlightening me on my error of judgment.

Well what have RalphW's plans got to do with you ? It's his money, his time, so how he chooses to use that money and time is a matter for himself. You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on here having a pop at individuals and organisations..........you're doing yourself a disservice. Have you anything positive to say about anything?
