UKSteamInfo is now showing the route change but with the old timings. The letter from Steam Dreams stated the same times from Victoria and Guildford despite the route change. The VSOE rambles round the Virginia Water route to Guildford in around 90 minutes. This tour seems to be timed for 70 mins. Anybody care to bet on some late running, especially as Virginia Water is likely to be busy with other Wimbledon diversions.

    Cheers
    Alan

The above services must also run in accordance with RT/D/S/009
The locomotive must also not use crossovers between platforms at ANY location

PART TWO: Banking Authority (Victoria - Grosvenor Bridge Junction)

An assisting locomotive will be provided to assist the steam train up the bank
between Victoria and Grosvenor Bridge. Special Authority is given for the
assisting locomotive to assist steam train from the rear between Victoria and
Grosvenor River Bridge in accordance with the following instructions.

The person in charge on the Platform at Victoria must operate the T.R.T.S. at
least three minutes before the train is due to depart.

THE ASSISTING LOCOMOTIVE MUST NOT BE ATTACHED TO STEAM TRAIN.

The Assisting Locomotive may only remain in contact with the steam train until
it has reached the top of the bank. The assisting locomotive may then closely
follow the train as far as the down Chatham fast line signal VS35 on the country
side of Grosvenor River Bridge where it must be brought to a stand. The driver
of the assisting locomotive must not pass signal VS35 until it has been cleared.

IF THE ASSISTING LOCOMOTIVE LOSES CONTACT WITH THE STEAM TRAIN BEFORE REACHING
GROSVENOR BRIDGE, Driver of the assisting locomotive must bring the locomotive
to a stand at the next signal and remain at the signal until it has been cleared
    for the locomotive to proceed.

The driver of the assisting locomotive must not make any further attempt to
assist the steam train after contact is lost. If the assisting locomotive is
stopped at a signal before signal VS35 the driver is not required to stop
specially at signal VS35 if it is displaying a proceed aspect.

Steam Dreams is correct. They receive their timings direct from Network Rail.

    (8) pathing between Eastleigh South Jn and Eastleigh awaiting path through platform 2 or 3 at Eastleighafter 1210 departure to Southampton, then held at Eastleigh East Jn (Signal E97) to cross 1207 Romsey - Salisbury (Via Soton) service to exiting the single line from Romsey. (3 minute platform reoccupation at Eastleigh and 2 minute re-occupation of single line as shown in Rules of the Plan.)

Technically the Junction just north of the platforms is East Jn, but for train planning purposes it can also mean signal E97.

Before anyone asks there are no worthwhile photo locations between signal E97 and Bournemouth Road Bridge at Chandlers Ford. I'll be out at Archers Road Footbridge or Flexford Road.

    Cheers, Neil

interesting use of location for a photo in chandlers ford, although i live there, i've always throught of it as a place devoid of good places for taking photos of mainline steam. try getting into the woods there, there are some reasonable places to take photos there, but it comes through so fast.

It isnt really local area (I live near Brighton) so main reason was it was somewhere I could get to easily enough and in time to beat it whilst she waited for the single line at Eastleigh, the station itself is nothing special and that bridge would be terrible for a video as the traffic was bad. Speed wise too she seemed to be accelerating slowley but not that fast.

Have you tried Ram Alley bridge? It's straight both ways with high parapets. Within another week or two the leaves will be too dense to get decent light at track level.

The whole Romsey - Eastleigh line is poor for lineside locations. There may be an opportunity on summer evenings at Crampmoor footpath crossing looking across the fields from the north of the line by the corner in the lane.

About 10minutes late at Effingham Junction.

Strolling through, but still a great sight. Presumably signals against it until after the station as we could hear it start to accelerate once north of the junction.

Hope that they made some money. Looking down from the carpark onto the train, there seemed lots of empty seats.

Nice to see about 20odd others either on the bridge, car park or the platforms too.

Went through Ashtead (between Leatherhead and Epsom) about 5 mins down. Shame it wasn't on time as it went through the same time a service train pulled in meaning I only got a going away shot on video. Will try to get something better for 35028 on Wednesday!
