Peckett ‘William Murdoch’ now on hire to the Helston Railway Preservation Society, Cornwall

    The GWR Preservation Group Limited (GWRPG) are pleased to announce that the locomotive Peckett ‘William Murdoch’ is to be hired to the Helston Railway Preservation Society at Trevarno Farm, Prospidnick, Cornwall

    William Murdoch will be transported in early September from its current location at the Southall Railway Centre.

    GWRPG are custodians of this locomotive and have confirmation agreement from its owners, the Portsmouth City Museum to hire this locomotive.

    It was built in 1949 by Peckett and Sons, at the Atlas Works in Bristol and used at the Hilsea Gas Works, Portsmouth for most of its life. During late 1983 it was moved to the GWRPG at Southall Railway Centre.
