Titfield Thunderbolt II - The Rematch.

North Norfolk Railway's re-enactment of the Titfield Thunderbolt film - in celebration of the film's 60th anniversary. The train was hauled by 'GWR 0-4-2 No. 1450' (renumbered to 1401 for the event). Also features the visiting locomotives '34067 Tangmere' and 'GWR pannier 9466' which formed 'The Titfield Thunderbolt' railtour (mainline charter). Recorded on 22 & 23 June.

Superb video with the clips from the original soundrack. Unfortunately not possible to re-create the final scene in the original film shot at Bristol Temple Meads, then stuffed with GW's best! But I could picture all the engines whistling their salute!

...Thankfully there was no recreation of the "wrecking" scene with the steam roller and Syd James....!!

Just read that there are plans to lift the WD's boiler in August, with hopes of getting the loco back in steam for 2014. I guess this all has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but it's good that the WD will be back in steam in the not too distant future. Especially if it's back in steam before Black Prince's boiler ticket expires, be great to see two 2-10-0s double heading on the line

Great to see Wissington in steam. I can remember standing on the footplate of this loco when it was on display at Sheringham station in the 80s.

So will it be used for off-peak services, or hired out like the Y7?

It is most likely to stay on the NNR as much as possible because it has probbraly has the same strength as Ring Haw but I am not 100% sure!

I was thinking about the agreement between the GCR and the NRM, where the GCR has restored NRM locos and they operate on the GCR (like Butler Henderson, the O4 etc)

Has the NNR ever thought of an arrangement like this? Just thinking of the J17 or J69 running on the Poppy Line

Yes I am an active volunteer
Railbus "LEV1" operates on the NNR under just such an agreement I believe. Diesel I know but it proves that the links between the two organisations must be there.
