Does anyone happen to now how this project is progressing please? Are the facilities now in use?

Last update on the Nene Valley website was in October 2008.

    Thanks

He is obviously referring to the appeal to buy the old station building at Wansford ?

I'll try and answer both questions:

    HEAVY OVERHAUL WORKSHOP

Externally the building is complete. Inside is still being kitted out but lighting etc is complete. Toilets and showers etc are are being built at the moment. The Steam Crane and Shunter No.2654 'Doncaster' currently occupy the overhaul workshop while parts from Class 56 56128 and Danish Class F 656 are also stored in there. The old overhaul workshop will become a running shed for 73050, 1800 etc....
2 pictures can be seen here although they are a little out of date:

    WANSFORD STATION BUILDING

At the recent AGM one of the members did a presentation on the where they were in terms of funding etc. A Heritage Lottery Grant is to be submitted. Its a case of watch this space really although something interesting is in the pipeline regarding the building and yard.............

Made my first visit to the NVR today - weather wasn't perfect but Alycidon was the star of the show, exuding power on one engine, never mind two. I also made sure I was pulled by 73050 and had a surprise double header of D9523 and D9009 to finish - possible first Teddy Bear / Deltic combination (he says waiting for inevitable correction).
Quick question, I could see D9504 in the yard but there was another TB in the shed that I couldn't identify, next to a 56 missing its nose grille. Could anyone identify them for me?

Hope you enjoyed your visit. The other Class 14 was prob D9516 and the 56 is 56128 soon to be 56313 currently being overhauled by Hanson Traction.

    Hope this helps

Could also have been D9520 in the old overhaul shed.
