Merseytravel are preparing the Mersey Ferry 'Royal Daffodil' (formerly Birkenhead Ferries 'Overchurch')
for sale. The ship was built at Cammell Laird, Birkenhead in the early 60's, but is not in original condition, having had a major rebuild in 1999 to replace the former saloons with two large lounge areas. She also had all machinery replaced at this refit.
The ship is currently in Cammell Laird's dry dock having her bottom scraped clean ready for the hull to be surveyed prior to being re-certificated. They obviously intend to sell her for further service rather than for scrap.

    Bob.
