This year’s steam festival held at Maldegem, Belgium, will be a three day event on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May, 2015.

The festival is themed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belgium at the end of the 2nd World War. A firm programme is already being established:

    - Visiting loco on the standard gauge will be USATC S100 0-6-0t "4389" from the Goes – Borsele line in Holland.

    - Confirmed visit of War Department Dieselloco: WD70033 - courtesy of Stichting 162
    - Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0st, WD196 “Errol Lonsdale” should be finished in time for her to enter service at the festival. (We are doing our best!)

Maldegem’s four other servicable loco’s, Ex Tunstead Quarries, Avonside 0-4-0st “FRED”, LaMeuse 0-6-0t “BEBERT”, St Leonard 0-4-0t “YVONNE” and Polish “Ferrum” 0-6-0t “GENERAL MACZEK” will also be in service.

An interesting program has been devised with a wartime flavour; An intensive service will run to Eeklo Main line station on the standard gauge supplemented four times daily by A photographic military train pulled by various locos.

On the narrow gauge line, trains will be operated by the familiar Kerr-Stuart 0-4-0st “PETER PAN” together with another yet to be confirmed loco from the UK. On this line, there will also be an intensive service in operation.

In Maldegem, A display of military vehicles is planned, there will also be trade stands with book, videos, etc. At Balgerhoeke, the half way station, military re-enactment is planned, and a preserved bus will shuttle visitors to the excellent nearby Canada-Poland War Museum where the story of the Local area during the War and Liberation is told.

Maldegem is only 10 miles from Brugge and 20 miles from the P&O ferry terminal in Zeebrugge.
