I'm looking forward to riding on this. Hopefully no diesel shoving because of the extra load.

Maybe @meltonnorth can be as forthcoming as he was over the Buxton Spa Express.

The Mid Day Scot will have a diesel on the rear between Manchester and Carnforth only for operational reasons
The Diesel will then run light to Edinburgh To return the train South

As it should be ( new rules say different and correctly so) as my late father many a time witnessed a Duchess pass his box at Scout Green box with 16 on without a banker .

Any news on whether 86259 is back in action for Saturday after its issues earlier in the week?

Looking forward to riding this one on Saturday.

Respect! Thank you. I think we all applaud this new era of open communication. I have just recommended this tour to some friends who have never been on a mainline tour before.

If the 86 isn't fixed in time, we could see double 47's.

I am sorry but the Scot failed today with two minor problems with mud hole door and a safety valve
these can not be fixed until the loco is cold
So 45699 will stand in so a diesel will have to be involved between Canforth and Carlisle only and not on the Cumbrian Coast

That's a shame, but thanks for the update, it's really appreciated.

My bad luck with 46115 continues, this will be the third time another loco has stood in.
Only once travelled behind it on the mainline out of St Pancras, and there was a diesel on the back.

What with problems with 46115, thus having to get 45699 ready for an unexpected trip out whilst also apparent remedial works to 45212 Carnforth has been a jolly busy old place this morning!
