Looking good, as much as I want to ride a train into Corwen asap, I can wait. Hopefully not too much longer now.

I'm assuming that it will be open by SSS4 time. Is there any chance of a mini Gala in January like we had this year? (I know that was probably more of a farewell to 44806, but it was still a really good day out).

Thinking about it, there's quite a few new stations opened recently or to be opened soon. East Grinstead is still pretty new, Corwen to come soon, Shottle Station opened on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway this July..... always an encouraging sign.

As I've said above no word yet on opening date, but I'll be doing route learning on the new section this afternoon, so shouldnt be too far off!

There will be a winter warmer event again. The last one wasn't really planned as the 5's leaving do, but ended up being that.

We have decided on an opening date , but can't announce this until the inspector has passed the installation.

I thought that would be the case. I had thought it would also be a case of seeing how many of the crews are passed out for the route before anything is announced.

The line has now been passed for running, subject to some small remedial works. The temporary platform & building plus access path should be completed within the next 3 weeks.
Driver training using a d.m.u. has now started, with trains running into the new station.
I'm sure that we'll be able to announce the opening date shortly.

We can now reveal that the first trains into Corwen will run on Wednesday 22nd October, but shareholders & supporters will get preference for tickets. Any surplus tickets on this day will be sold on a first come ,first served basis & with a premium added.
Trains will then operate at weekends until mid-November & also during the half term week.
Please consult the Llangollen Railway website for confirmation of timetables & fares.

Brilliant news, sounds like a special trip over to Llan might be in order for me.

The first trains, which are members & shareholders specials, will run on Wednesday this week. Any visitors please note that there will be no public access to the new platform , as we will potentially be inundated with locals who have been patiently waiting for this day.
There is a pay & display car park near to the new station & a decent chippy / café on the A5 in the town centre.
Parking is limited on the A5 ,which is adjacent to the extension for most of its length, & walking to photographic locations is the best option.

I'd thought there were some tickets availible for the 1510 train from Llan at a premium rate, on a first come first served basis.

Just checked the Railways official Facebook page and this is the case. Turn up after 13.30 at Llangollen booking office, and tickets can be purchased on a first come first served basis at a rate of £25 per person. The train will be top and tailed by 3802 and 45337.
