Was going to cross over from the KWVR to Langho on the way home, but never bothered checking this page again for info. Probably my fault in reality.

That's a very noisy and confident climb at Wilpshire considering the weather and likely track conditions.

Can't answer your second question, but I'll try with the first:-

44806 - on NYMR and due to be taken out of traffic for overhaul. this year Will run to Whitby when complete and all the gubbins added but probably not in 2018.
    44871 - Yes.
44932 - in bits at Carnforth. Who knows what will be tackled next and how long it will take once 35018 is finished?
(4)5025 - I think this overhaul has a long way to go and no idea if main line running is planned
45110. - No. Out of ticket and on display at the SVR "Engine House". Doubt if it will go main line again.
    45212 - Yes
45231 - Bought by Jeremy Hosking but still at Carnforth. Will move to Crewe at some point, but who knows when? Will need some work on it before it can run main line. Big question mark, in other words.
45305 - 5305LA loco. Has a busy second half of 2017 with Steam Dreams. Couldn't find out when the next overhaul is due but I haven't heard that it's imminent, so probably available.
    45407. Yes

70013 - Will need an extension if it's to run on the 50th anniversary of 1T57. Quite possible as a 5-year overhaul was undertaken,

48151 - probably. Last overhaul complete in 2010.

None of the other 1968 survivors will venture onto the main line next year. 43106 should be in traffic on the SVR and 92212 on the MHR. 48305 ought to be ready before too long a the GCR. 73050 is due to begin an overhaul shortly (if it hasn't already begun) while 48773 and 75027 are out of action with no overhaul planned as yet.

I think that covers them all. Please correct me, anyone, if I've got anything wrong or you have more up-to-date information.

Yes. I updated this page as soon as I knew the loaded test was happening.

Moving on, when did 45212 last run on the main line?

Can't say for certain but I'd wager it ventured onto the mainline in the 70's to attend a br depot event, I know 30072 went to Leeds Neville hill along with several members of the kwvr working fleet in that period.

Around dawn on 4/8/68 when she retired to Lostock Hall after standing as station pilot at Preston overnight. As I was at Preston that night (waiting for the 01.30 Inverness sleeper) I was tempted to go back to Preston this afternoon to see her there, but given the weather I decided to give it a miss. Maybe next August?!

Thats quite a list, now the next big question, if you were to have a celebration of the 50th anniversary, where could you stage it? where could cope with 9 engines, personally i think it has to be somewhere up north, in the York/ Carnforth area, in the yard at NRM would be my best bet, that way the non mainline approved, or out of ticket, if they can be released, can also join in
ed: mods can you start a new thread and move questions about august 2018 to there
