The NNR has been chosen to restore the J21 (65033), previously based at Beamish. The work will take place in the the newly refurbished and extended engine sheds at Weybourne. Work is expected to take about 30 months and initial work on the engine is planned to start in the New Year. Once restoration is finished the J21 engine will join the J15 on the NNR. Both were JT Wordswell designed engines. The J21 and the J15 were seen together at Beamish in June 2003 when the J15 was at Beamish to help launch the campaign to bring the J21 into working order. The J21 will remain on loan to the NNR for the next twenty years. In return there will be regular visits to Beamish by NNR engines to demonstrate steam at the museum.

Wow crikey, that's a pretty long restoration - more than worth it though. Very nice photos here http://www.mandgn.co.uk/J21.html to show what we'll be lucky enough to see in the future
