A friend took this shot at Crewe recently, it's in one of the bays at the south of platforms 6/11 7?
OK we know what it is, but whose livery is it?

This is one of the GWR Class 387/1 EMU trainsets that are given mileage accumulation runs between Wembley and Crewe as part of their "shakedown" processes before being signed off and released to traffic. This is part of the "Electrostar" family built by Bombardier at Derby that includes Classes 375 / 376 / 377 / 379 / 387. The livery on this set is the "new" livery being adopted by GWR on its trainsets.

Richard, thanks, it would never have occurred to me that just the number / livery would have come up with that info.

    Fred, Thanks for your help.

The west of England franchise is now called GWR and will retain that name no matter who is running the franchise.

Hope the seats are more comfortable than the 387s on the GN. They're dire.

There are enough anoraks out there taking photos of every single new unit or loco, you can pretty much rely on there being something on Youtube, Flickr or other photo sites.

Not anoraks - simply photographers taking photographs to record the changing face of motive power on the modern railway !
