There are still plenty of rare cars etc being found after being hidden for years. Could there still be a steam loco hidden away somewhere in the U.K. ?
    No strategic reserve theorists please.

    Bob.

A couple have surfaced in recent years, a 16" Hunslet 0-6-0st and a Sentinel 0-4-0.
    There could be more.

Is there still a MR Loco under Dandry Mire, after running off the turntable road at Hawes Junction (Garsdale)?

    Richard.

You're not the only person who would really like to know that. Someone must know what's happened to it, but it seems to have gone to ground pretty effectively!

The Bug was found underneath a pile of scrap, so I guess it's not impossible. I imagine there are quite a few narrow gauge diesels secreted away, but I'll be surprised if there are any steam locos lurking anywhere.

More likely that something might turn up overseas, possibly from a military installation or a large civil engineering contract. We know that there are engines on the ocean floor, but nothing worth salvaging.

That's the one the story "Thomas down the mine" is based upon.

Longer than that I think you'll find - more like 10-15 years. It doesn't help hat there are/have been a number of similar MW locos at Ruddington, and periodically photographers post pictures of them, but wrongly identified...

Manning Wardle N01317 Rhiwnant has never been at Ruddington. It was moved from Woolwich along with 1762, 2009 and 2015, to Peak Rail, but then sold by the group direct from that location prior to the other locomotives being moved to Ruddington. 1317 was sold to an individual resident in the South East and has been stored on a private site since it was moved south in 2002.

UK locos is usually fairly good on where locos are but even this site lists nothing later than 2006 when it was recorded as being at South Coast Steam

There was an interesting industrial 0-6-0st at steam town I remember. Anyone know who owned her?
