Anyone else experiencing choppy or jerky playback of 'HD' videos on You Tube? Ones I uploaded from late November played fine until early January. You Tube say they have a few issues with 'HD' as it is still in it's infancy.

However after searching the net it seems that if you add '&fmt=22' (without the quotation marks) after the video URL the video loads and plays without problem. You used to add this just after they went widescreen to force 'HD' playback prior to them making it an option.

I've tried it out on several railway videos and it seems to do the trick for me although some of my own still seem a little choppy but that may well be due to doing something wrong in the encoding.

Yeah i've been suffering from the same problem too, however i've found that the adding of the code to the URL works, so this is what i've being doing when linking my site to the HD option.

Strange thing is I have two PCs running one on XP and one on Vista, the one on XP always has problems with the HD option, the one on Vista works fine except for the odd one, which as has been said could be encoding problems.

Looking around the net there seems to be a possibility that the latest update of Flash Player (10) could be causing the problems. If I remember rightly it became available just before Christmas and I started to get problems not long after that.

Was that on your Vista or XP PC Ralph, This is all very strange as I looked at David's and Simon's videos using the &fmt=22 and they played fine. The first shot on my video from last Saturday still seems a little choppy but the encoding is no different from that which I have always used for HD and which played without a hitch. I know my PC needs some more RAM but when I started uploading in HD there didn't seem to be a problem with the choppy playback on You Tube.
