2 day ticket bought! :) Well done to the organisers for managing to secure a replacement 3rd guest loco not once, but twice in quick succession. I visited the railway on Sunday, would be nice if we can have similar weather for the bank holiday weekend! I saw the new halt at Hayles Abbey is nearly done, but won't be open for the gala - announced today it will be 6th June.

You're correct Dave. With 1450 and the auto using toddington platform 2 at toddington, we decided to try something different and make full use of the new platform at Cheltenham.

Have I mis-read the timetable or is it true that on the Saturday there are no solo runs northbound for 35006 until mid-afternoon?????

Facebook is also reporting that the stop board on the extension has been moved 2024 yards nearer to Broadway.

    Excellent news.

Any connection at Winchcombe should be doable, although I'm sure train crews would appreciate a brisk walk over the footbridge or crossing! :)

Yes the stop board has moved over a mile closer to Broadway, the DMU has already gone up there yesterday I believe, I might pop up tomorrow for a nosey.

76017 has also arrived, so just the S160 now and we're all set hopefully.

Don't understand where the two minutes comes from. Toddington bound trains are always due in first and so you should make the connection. Doing it the other way is more awkward. Would suggest you are either near the rear of the train to get across the foot crossing or nearer the middle then use the footbridge. (Foot crossing generally quicker)

    Daft question coming up.

The next faceache post on the extension says that the auto trains will run over the new line during the gala but what about the three top and tailed trains that go beyond Toddington each day. Does anyone who if they will also do the full line?

    Thanks in advance!

The three timetabled full length trains that go north from Toddington will go to a point over 200 yards north of Little Buckland bridge, which is about a mile short of Broadway and approx 2 miles further north than Laverton.

    No need to shout...

    1450 Facing Cheltenham Race Course
    2807 Facing Broadway
    4270 Facing Broadway
    6046 Facing Cheltenham Race Course
    7820 Facing Cheltenham Race Course
    7903 Facing Cheltenham Race Course
    35006 Facing Broadway
    76017 Facing Broadway

I *presume* top and tail trains will also be doing the full length to the new stop board - they're timed the same as the autos at any rate.

A regrettable announcement. Fate has thrown one more (and hopefully last) spanner in the works. The S160, 6046 has failed with a run out big end. The confirmation that she would no longer be able to come has come too late for us to source a replacement, so I'm afraid that we are now down to seven locos. More details can be found on the steam loco dept blog (where else):
