    Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since we the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Museum posted on here, so we all thought it would be good to give you guys an update on our progress.

Firstly, on 25th March 2017 we the Museum celebrated our first year birthday/anniversary of the formation of the Museum.

Secondly, we the museum tried to save a variety of GER (non- GRC&W built) Carriages earlier this year, we were successful in the purchase of the carriages and due to lack of museum funds the founders purchased them but sadly, due to lack of funds and fundraising we were unsuccessful raising the required funds for the transport therefore, we have had no choice but to inform the previous owner who is now looking to donate them to whoever will pick them up. It is now the 3rd time which the Museum has been unsuccessful in purchasing rolling stock but we have not given up, we are still continuing to grow and as the saying goes 'you win some, you lose some' we are looking and thinking positive and are hoping one day we would be successful in purchasing/acquiring at least one or two items of GRC&W origins.

Thirdly, We now have a completed Mission Statement, Aims and Objectives and these are as follows:

    Mission Statement

"To locate, promote and preserve the history of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company's contribution to world railways, rolling stock and other associated items built by the said Company and its predecessor and successors and all other associated companies to do so far the inspiration, enjoyment and information of the public, and to provide an educational resource and a focus on the interest in railways and rolling stock and associated items relating to the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company."

Objectives of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Collection (GRCWC)

    a. "To locate, promote and preserve the history and heritage of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon company for the benefit of the public"

    b. "To exhibit to members of the public materials related to road and rail and it's associated technology built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company by means of the establishment and maintenance of a Railway Museum and other temporary or permanent exhibitions".

Strategic Aims of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Museum

Focusing on and planning to meet these aims for the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Museum will lead to the achievement of the GRCWC....

    a. To collect, restore, renovate, build, construct or create and then display to the public in a suitably appointed facility, appropriate and relevant exhibits, within the available material and financial resources of the Museum.

    b. To collect, preserve and make available archive material as is appropriate to public and professional organisations.

    c. To provide diverse audiences with the best quality experiences and optimum access the onsame the GRCWC and develop the public's knowledge of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company's heritage by leading the field in providing an inspirational and educational experience to all visitors at Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Museum.

    d. To serve the community by providing educational, learning and other opportunities within financial, personnel and material resources.

    e. To commemorate Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon heritage by celebrating related anniversaries when able within museum resources and considered appropriate.

    f. To be knowledged and respected as a leading museum in it's field in the country.

    g. To operate with financial and organisational initiative and efficiency.

    H. To record Oral Histories of those former employees and members of the public who remember the former works to help enable us to fill in any missing gaps within the Company's History.

    I. To work with Heritage Railways and other preservation groups and organisations to ensure the preservation of Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company built rolling stock and other items continues and the history of each and every item is recorded for the benefit and education of the public.

Fourthly, if anyone knows of any heritage railway, preservation group or society who owns Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon built stock and would be willing to support or work with the Museum to ensure the promotion and preservation of GRC&W built stock continues for the benefit and education of the public and others, please do get in touch.

Lastly, we were successful on many occasions last year to attend various events locally and we are now looking to attend various events and gala's this year and if anyone knows of any gala's or events which the museum would be able to attend we would be vary grateful to hear from you.

We hope this is useful and helpful to many of you interested in the museum project and we look forward to hearing from anyone with any help, advice and guidance in moving the project forward.

    With kindest regards,
