That video shows all the designs not just the winning one. The 'old steam shed' that you like at the end of the video is not the winning design.

The current edition of Main Line has an artists impression of the interior of the display building and it at least appears to be fairly uncluttered by roof supports.
There are also a couple of (rather small) plans of the latest thinking as regards layout of the site (one with just a footbridge and the other with a footbridge + subway) and the significant thing is that Leicester North is likely to be a three platform station at the end of the works.

  4. Let's hope that they don't paint the inside of it bile green and hang vehicles on the walls, as they have done at the new(ish) museum of transport in Glasgow.

So long as they leave room for any potential extension to Leicester Abbey, no matter how remote a chance it is, it'll be a good move IMO.

Existing platform road and associated loop are clear at the City end, though, personally, I can't ever see that extension happening.
Other 2 platforms are an island which must cover part of the area where the old Belgrave & Birstal platform was. The turntable shown on the GCR website plan has been moved off to the east side of the museum with normal access by points and sidings into the museum roads.

I can't see it happening without some serious external funding, but then 5-10 years ago did anyone really think this new NRM outpost was going to be built? So long as the potential is left there, we never truly know what the future holds.

That must be the worst transport museum in the world, I assume whoever designed it was high on something illegal at the time.

While it struggles to properly display the locos both me and my relatives really enjoyed the museum as a whole, and I went in expecting to hate it given the criticisms and my own dislike of so many of Zaha's projects.

It certainly lacks in space, but it is worth visiting.
