Well that maybe because the aperture isn't open wide enough or it is too open and your depth of field is to narrow. without seeing the pics its difficult to tell.

    can you post some?

Your photo has to be "hosted" on another site (Flickr, photobox, or any of the many others). You have 2 options :

1] Right click on image & select 'copy image location'. Back on this site, select 'post a reply' Select 'Img'. right click & then paste. Select preview, & you should get your image like this:

Or 2] Right click on your image, select 'copy link location'. On this site select 'URL', paste as before, and in 'preview' you get something like...

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/rob-33/3337645517/

When we click the link, we see the image.

Hope, Iv'e got that right - There may be a better way, but I don't know it.

Only just spotted this thread - so apologies for chipping in late in the day.

I used a Fuji S9500 for about 18 months before purchasing a DSLR. The S9500 is similar to the S5600 and in general its a pretty good camera. The lense is better at the full zoom end of its range, but can be a bit soft when at wider angles, especially if using a wider aperture.

Two things annoyed me, the first of which used to drive me mad - the auto focus system which is easily confused when there is a moving object in the frame. I would often set up a shot before the train arrived and the auto focus would confirm a lock, then with the train in view, it wouldn't. The best option is to use the 'manual' focusing mode and button in advance to set the focus on a pre set spot where you want to take the subject. The second item is only applicable if you shoot in RAW mode - each RAW image takes up to 8 seconds to write to the memory card and you can't take another picture until that completes, so you get one chance only in most situations.

The main command dial on the top plate of my S9500 broke. A quick Google reveals that this is a common issue on this family of cameras and is due to the very flimsy plastic shaft under the dial snapping. Even though it was out of guarantee, Fuji repaired mine and paid for the postage.

How long does it take for a jpeg image to write to the memory card?

JPEG's are quick, almost no delay, its only when shooting RAW that you have an issue

Don't just buy the cheapest filter on the market. You have paid out a reasonable amount of cash for a new camera with a good lens and putting a cheap filler could possibly give you an inferior photo with a cheap filter. Some people have paid out lots of cash for a good lens only to put a cheap filter on the front of a expensive lens.
    why?

Thanks for the advice Lee.. But wouldn't any filter give you the decent amount of light you require in a photo? Any thoughts anyone of the photos I have taken?

    Thanks

Hi rob S - is there a filter you would recommend that I invest in for the camera?

    Thanks

    Andy

P.S - As for backlight i meant a light that gives you the light and natural tone of the setting of the photo you take.

Two schools of thought regarding filters....... 1) Don't use them as they degrade your image - you are slapping a sheet of glass in front of an expensive lens. 2) It will protect your (expensive) lens from getting dirty or marked.

I use a UV filter to protect the lens. If it gets damaged, throw it away. A Skylight 1B filter could also be used.

I think the point that '73129' was making was that a cheap filter may not be good optical quality (giving distortion), or may not be coated (to reduce relections).
Go for a branded name... Cokin, B+W, Kood, are 3 that I've used. You can get these easily enough, if you want to go to Ebay, I can recommend a seller.
