BR-built ‘Manor’ No. 7822 Foxcote Manor masqueraded as GWR-built No. 7811 Dunley Manor for the Llangollen Railway’s Autumn Steam Gala. Here it approaches Pentrefelin sidings with the 10.15am train from Llangollen on September 4. PHILIP MACEY

Locomotives of GWR and Southern pedigree are to star on a Midland Railway branch that became part of the North Eastern Region, as ‘Manor’ No. 7822 Foxcote Manor visits the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s ‘Autumn Steam Spectacular’ gala.

Llangollen-based No. 7822 joins rebuilt ‘Battle of Britain’ No. 34053 Sir Keith Park (courtesy of Southern Locomotives Ltd and the Severn Valley Railway) for the October 7-9 event, with the KWVR now reopened to road movements of locomotives following the recent lifting of the low-loader ban at Ingrow (SR455).

The ‘foreign’ visitors make up a total of eight locomotives in steam, with the home fleet consisting of BR Standard ‘4MT’ 4-6-0 No. 75078, WD 2-8-0 No. 90733, ‘4F’ No. 43924, ‘S160’ No. 5820, ‘Coal Tank’ No. 1054 and Taff Vale 0-6-2T No. 85, while an LNER steam crane will be in action in Oakworth yard.
