This is intended as a NEWS update to all those interested.

Exmoor Associates have entered into the next land purchase plan for aquisition of L&B trackbed.

The section concerned is "Snapper Halt" in the Yeo Valley about 2 miles north from Barnstaple and 10 miles south of Woody Bay and includes a superb piece of track bed and the waiting shelter.

For details log on to "Exmoor associates" web site and request "Trackbed Trails 9" PDF that details what's going on.

Anyone who wants to be part of this purchase is most welcome.

Serious people please contact Mike on 01206 734030.

Best Regards To All from EA and its shareholders.

No doubt I'm missing something obvious, but could you provide a link for that .PDF?

Good news! They just need Paracombe station, and a new bridge, and we'll be onto a winner...

is the main link - but there's no obvious way to get to the PDF that Engineer mentions. Perhaps he should tell his chums at EA they might update the webpage with these details?

So how much of the trackbed from Barnstaple, through Snapper and on towards Chelfham, will Exmoor Associates shortly own...?

Those thinking of contributing to Exmoor Associates may wish to ask for confirmation from the folk running that organization that they are in fact working together with the L&B Trust and current management of the railway. There are certainly those, including the OP, who have talked about the EA not letting the current L&B use their trackbed and of setting up a rival railway in the future. The OP is possibly not reflecting EA's official views but readers beware!

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

This is not a debate item its a NEWS item.

**** ( Ok I personally do not intend to debate the subject , if people want to debate it then idealy, best one of them starts a new thread.

I only posted up as a matter of spreading knowledge to people, who may not know about what is going on in NorthDevon.
On a matter of clarity anyone wanting to know more about EA would be best ,talking to the management of EA,who no doubt will enable the person concerned to gain a clear understanding and to enter discussion with some of the shareholders of which there is currently in excess of 150)***

Sorry those who have looked on EA's web pages there is no update yet.

"Trackbed Trails 9" is a shareholder newsletter.

I did say you would need to go to the site and" request it". Information will be added to their site shortly.

Clarification - EA's management have no plan to build or operate a railway, their objective is solely to aquire pieces of trackbed if in doubt ask them by email via the site.

    Regards To all

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

    Martin,
By the same token I would question the OP's motives in attempting to stifle any "debate". The thread appears to be fundamentally an appeal for funds for the "Exmoor Associates" as much as a "news item". As this is an open forum then the members clearly have every right to "debate" the merits or otherwise of this body. I for one had never heard of it, so would welcome such a debate before I considered committing any funds to it.

I agree. Felix probably was a tad forthright in his post but it's no secret that there's little love lost twixt EA and the current L&B. So - caveat emptor in this case I feel.

    All

the moderators are not trying to stifle debate , however what we wish to steer clear of is conjecture and supposition that may or may not be factually true, particularly posts that are designed to stir trouble rather than inform . For that reason Felix's post was the subject of much discussion and it was agreed to leave the post be

Perhaps if Felix would like to further elaborate their post based on facts we would all be a little wiser

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

    Its all kicking off!

Glad that the EA are still rebuilding the jigsaw as it were, and I have no doubt that their intent is to see THE L&B running again throughout, not another line.

Shame they can't buy Paracombe station though!

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

one of the best bits of advice I was ever given (about marriage in fact!) but most applicable here is that parties will always disagree but you have to do what's best for the project . So in the same way that all of us enthusiasts hope the WHHR/FR put their diffeences aside one hopes that the EA / L&B do likewise and progress the development of the L&B

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

The L&B situation is nothing like the RhE/WHHR situation at all. During any long term project, a small number of people become disenfranchised, often because they feel that they should be the ones running the show. Such folks subsequently continue to fire flack at the project and create dissention. Such ramblings are seen here from time to time. There is no question of EA building their own bit of the L&B and they should be given all the support that they can get to continue to aquire parcels of trackbed as and when they become available.

Without the efforts of EA, the L&B would forever remain an impossible dream

Re: L&B More of the Old Line

You make a lot of sweeping statements as if your an authority on the current members of the L&B
and their interaction,I am not sure you have a good grasp of what some members actually think and why they think it.

I am not wanting to be one of the ones running the show. I was , but when standards dropped and others took over, , it just fragmented what was a very sound set up. I hate wasted effort and wasted resources, and wasted money.
