Shame. Hopefully we still get some noise out of 5197. Still got 1300 though which sounds pretty good.

Is there any truth in what I've heard that crews have been instructed to be gentle with the S160? That'd be a great shame! #-o

Gentle? Why? Is it more 'eco friendly' so to speak? If not then why do it?

The Dakota flew past as planned and on time, looked very nice in all it's glory. Loco's performed well. Very busy day in terms of people power and the entertainment seemed to go down well with a lot of the people. There were many people dressed in fancy costumes which put the icing on the cake to what was a truly great day.

Just got back myself from a trip up to Bury from Ramsbottom and it was something different !!
What surprised me was how the main street shops at Ramsbottom had been done up the event.
Engines running were the S160, Jinty & L&Y1300 doubleheading - nose to nose.(banking on the wayback) plus newly painted 0-6-0 no.32 on a freight train & diesal D335 on passenger service -when was this around for the war ? plus a thumper unit on the Heywood shuttle.
i was walking back down Ramsbottom High street when the dakota flew past and managed a couple of snaps at it.
All is revealed on my fotopic site but it doesnt reveal the amount of work and entertainment that went into organising this event - you need to go to see and believe it.
