    Hi All

I guess you all might be aware of this but the timetable is available on the ELR website (navy timetable applies to all steam galas for 2009), not sure where the freights fit in...........

As far as I know freight will be early morning photo charter at Burrs on the Saturday and Sunday as done in the past, after that it will be shunted around in station by Chris Beets Peckett "May", official confirmation awaited

I'll be at Burrs for the majority of the Saturday. Anyone know how to get on the same side as the caravan park to get a view of the trains coming from Bolton Street. Is there a public footpath or can I walk near the track wearing my orange hi-visability vest?

Loco rosters now up on the website www.east-lancs-rly.co.uk

Is something up with the austerity, given that it's not rostered for any turns whatsoever? Don't think I'll bother then [-X

I was also looking forward to 1370 and 2183 taking even a limited role in the gala [-o< [-o<

    Not now sadly ](*,) ](*,)

Direction of locos (from memory), 71000 was facing boiler first from Bury, with 47324, 45231, 45407 all facing boiler first from Rawtenstall, not sure if that is still the case though.

80098, 71000, 45407 all chimney first to rawtenstall, 45231, 47324 face chimney into Bury, 2183 and May face chimney towards Rawtenstall.

Now then having had a recent discussion with the organisers I have been able to arrange a series of run pasts with the early morning freights at Burrs, we will have about 20 to 25 minutes so quite a few run pasts should be able to be fit in. Costs of this will be £10 per day, turn up and pay. This will be the only chance to see the freight out of the confines of Bury Station with an engine facing the correct way. I have also reached an agreement to do the same on the February event.

Is there any likelihood of the austerity getting some proper turns in the February gala? The ELR seem to be overlooking a sizable chunk of the enthusiast market who appreciate industrial locos, or even just locos working hard - would it really hurt to have it on a couple of rammy shuttles or a run up to Heywood? :-k
