I would have thought Waterloo-Salisbury-Exeter-Westbury-Reading-Waterloo is more likely

Just adding a bit of interest to the proceedings, as there is life beyond the main lines, as Bognor and Walton-on-the-Naze proved...

All quiet on RTT but whispered unofficial northbound timings of 0818 departure from KGX, Potters Bar at 0840 then even time to Peterborough (0940) for crew change. SL up Stoke to Grantham (1015/1050) for water. Pathing stop at Claypole then even time Claypole (1110) to York (1220).

Would you like to take a guess on which stretches would see high end running ?

Possibly Hitchin to Stoke Tunnel and Claypole to York excluding anything in the Doncaster area and approaching York but that's anyone's guess. It depends where we really stop en route.

And to dispel any rumour, you will all have also guessed that someone who has no say over adverts on Nat Pres is definitely someone who will not be privy to Ebor timings ahead of when they are published officially.

However, on April 1st, a WIBN set of timings seemed worth floating. ;)

Nice one, Big Al, that had me fooled!

Now all it needs is for someone to fill in all the gaps, hack into the NR computer, and Make It Happen!

Apparently there are unresolved issues but I do not know what they are. It would be a shame not to get to York in four hours

Let's hope so. Given that tours at the moment have been getting gauged quite quickly I am surprised that no news has come out given that we are less than two weeks away. Hopefully something will come out in the next few days.

There's something going to Newcastle via York that has taken the 08:18 path from KGX that A1SLT might have expected to have.

The 08:18 is a ‘Q’ path that is used as a spare. It’s timed for a 100mph electric but has additional stops so it’s likely Tornado will shadow (but not follow) this path as far as either Peterborough or Grantham...

See my April 'joke' at #43. Don't forget the fantastic path Tornado had to York in Nov 2010 when water was taken at Grantham and we ran non stop to York. The whole run was under four hours and that was with a 75 limit. So other services permitting it is all possible and must have been drafted out ages ago. But as always, I'm guessing it is 'loose end' stuff as @gricerdon suggests.

As ever, it's haste not speed. I wasn't on the Top Gear run, but did do the Nov 2010 run. Phenomenal. Both got to York quicker than Bittern's 90 mph run.

Tornado had a few others timed non stop from Grantham DGL to York in 73-74 mins for the 83+ miles, incl 4 mins to cover first mile back out onto ECML.

If we have those schedules again I will be delighted. 90 limit should allow more sensible working. Faster downhill, rather than reining in at 75, without the need to thrash up the 1:200s.

Any idea what the load will be? The full 13 or only 10 as per Bittern?

Yes it is and I wonder how often it’s been activated since the path was added into the system in December?
There is also a path from Wembley Eur Frt Ops Cntre (at 07:25) that would be the inbound coaching stock, with the return from Newcastle due to arrive at 22:08.
I do wonder if this path would more likely to be used on the Sunday (15th April) when Arsenal play away at Newcastle so an additional Footex service (do these even run anymore?) as that would at least make sense.
    Fingers crossed at least!

I believe full times are confirmed and should be on RTT shortly. We may be in for a treat!

There's a Virgin East Coast due out of KGX at 0806 followed by a Grand Central at 0811 both take 10 minutes to reach Potters Bar whereas Tornado is taking 22 minutes so looks like the slow line initially.
