I need to get from Preston to Bury Bolton Street next Friday. I've looked on how to get to the station on the East Lancs' website but they only appear to have a map. I'm going by public transport and wondered if anyone could help?

There is an hourly service from Preston to Manchester Victoria (Northern Rail) and a tram on the Metrolink every 12 mins from Manchester Victoria to Bury.

At the minute it is definitely best to go via Manchester Victoria. There is a far better train service between Preston and Piccadilly, but the trams aren't running through the city centre due to roadworks (a replacement bus service is operating). Double trams are running every 12 minutes between Victoria and Bury Interchange, after which it's an easy 5-minute walk to Bolton Street station.

Oh, and be aware that on many weekdays you can't pay for tickets at the ELR by credit or debit card (if their ticket office is shut)!

Is there a station car park at Bury?
    The website doesn't mention parking.
I am hoping to visit mid-week next month after dropping off my wife at Manchester City stadium for a conference.

There is a carpark at Bury Bolton Street however, it tends to fill up fairly quickly during the weekends.
