8173 is under overhaul at Churnet.
Nobody is kicking GW, its simply an expression of regret for one that got away which perhaps ought not to have done.

I'm curious if there might be another LNER built one lurking out there somewhere. Anybody got a clue?

My info from Wiki which probably explains that. I understand the overhaul was only started this year

Those posts make interesting reading. I hadn't appreciated the amount of red tape involved in removing the locomotives from public ownership.

Presumably the GWS were up-front about their plans to use only the firebox. I agree that would be interesting to know (and not merely speculate about) how much of 48518 the GWS ever owned, and also what other offers the council/Cambrian Transport actually had.

Its also suggested elsewhere that the restoration includes using some parts from.........

    48518....

Whilst 45407 is apparently already running with one of her cylinders?

Its already been well documented the remains were picked off by several parties once the boiler had been liberated. Who knows what transactions occured or who had title to effect them.

80100 has its own blog on the MHR website - worth looking at.

Indeed 80150 is very much receiving attention...I was talking to the chap who had made new steps for her only last night...regular Tuesday working parties as per the Blog on MHR website.

Is 80100’s restoration due to begin after 84030 is finished?
