2015 looks like a good year on the DSR. The season starts on the 14th Feb although the full timetable is still to be announced. The second annual beer festival is on the the weekend of 17th- 19th July which should mean an extended gala timetable but full details are still to be announced.

The line has a variety of charters visiting this year with the regular Torbay Express & Cathedrals Express, a Dartmouth Express and a few diesel hauled charters alreadly booked. Locomotives including 61306 Mayflower, 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, 70000 Britannia and 6201 Princess Liz lined up so far.

75014 Braveheart should be back in service in the latter half of the year. It has a timeline events photo charter booked for November. 7827 Lydham Manor also has a photo charter booked for March but will be disguised as 7800 Torquay Manor for it.

It is also the last full season for 5239 Goliath which will be going in for overhaul at the end of the season once 75014 is complete.

There is currently a revamp of the station at Kingswear with a refurbished platform canopy and footbridge which should be complete within the next few months.

There is also lots going on the River Dart with regular boat trips and also the Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle providing trips from April onwards.

Have to say fair play to the new regime at DSR. I think we all know that DSR is a commerical operation but you have to say this new GM seems to understand that by keeping the Enthusiast onside that that really can be a winner for you You wouldn't have had 7827 1) in Br Black. 2) visiting other railways 5 yrs ago would you? Also the 25 repaint and visit to Totnes seems to have gone down rather well so hats off to all those who made it happen. Really looking forward to the day 7827 visits the SVR for a nice little reunion with 7802, 12 and 19 and 4150 makes a reciprical visit to another of its old haunts. (4150 was ex Stourbridge Jcn & Newton Abbot)

Has 7827 ticket been extended then? Though 75014 was being returned to steam to replace the Manor?

I believe 7827 had a new 10 year ticket after a retube early last year.
Has 75014's boiler arrived at the DSR yet ?

Yes, 7827 has been extended for another 10 years after its retube. I'm not overly sure what's going on with 75014's boiler but it should be returned from Crewe soon.

If you really must give 75014 a name, then have you considered giving it one of the old GWR broad gauge names like your 2-8-0T's rather than an anglophobic Mel Gibson B movie ?

IIRC the name was given by the previous owner when it operated the Jacobite trains.

The boiler for 75014 is not back yet. I understand that 4588 has been sold.

I can't find any evidence that Wallace was ever referred to as "braveheart" before the film came out, so to say the loco is named after him is inaccurate.

Agreed. 99% of people will think of the Mel Gibson film on seeing the name anyway.

I see the 2015 timetable (on the website today) shows Greenway as a request stop for trains in both directions. Originally, trains were only stopping in one direction due to the gradient - is that no longer thought a problem?

Great to see so many operating days - not far off a year round daily service.

Trains have always stopped in both directions since Greenway Halt opened in 2012, I think (as long as it's been requested that is!) but only on the morning services from Kingswear, in the afternoons when the trains are typically heavier the train does not stop on the way from Kingswear.
