BTW, for those interested. S160 6046 is operating to Ipstones this weekend, 3x return trips off Froghall.

1st trip will be minus dining set, but this will be then added for the 2/3. Another noisy weekend up the Moorlands beckons!

    Hello all together,

I've got some questions about your extension works. How is the progress?
Haw far are you with planned selling of the housing site? When do you wanna reach Leek?
What's about the future of the waterhouse line? Is an reopening of the line to Stoke planned? Is the MRC cooperating with you and do they support the visions?

    Thank you
    Fred

    Quick update from the MPD.

2944 undergone some air pump repairs whilst 6046 handles most of our early season traffic. Available as reserve loco when needed.
6046 is proving popular amongst the crews following her return, had a few running in issues but is currently the main service loco.
5197 overhaul continues, a hydraulic is due this week IIRC which once done will see her boiler returned the frames and the reassembly start in ernest.
48173 frames were rescued from the depths of the Pit Road siding. These are to undergo an inspection in the coming weeks ahead of her restoration starting in the autumn once 5197 has fully entered service.
33102 continues to perform her reliable Thunderbird duties.
33021 is undergoing a cab overhaul, pictures online.
Brightside was started up for the first time in 7 years this month. A faulty water pump stopped testing, but this has now been repaired and the final bits and pieces are now being sorted.

Anyone wants to join the small but happy team, get in touch and you'll be made to feel more than welcome.

I see that there are Ipstones trains this Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday and Monday. Please could you tell me if 6046 be solo or will the class 33 be assisting?

    Thanks

OaPWay working Tuesday and Wednesday this week. On Tuesday a select band gathered to see if we could make effective use of the old jacker-packer. It was definitely winter later on with driving snow. The machine works well but we still have much to learn. Wednesday we had three different line walks (Ian, Simon & I did Apesford to Bradnop accompanied by four footed Max) Later on we went back to our Tuesday packing section for lunch and to watch the class 33 go over it.

Out of curiosity, how does Max react to moving trains? Our dog makes his disdain for them, particularly steamers, very clear

I don't really want to find out - just in case he tries to bite the tyres. My hand was firmly on his collar while I was watching the track under the 33.

5197 passed her insurance exam this evening. Now comes the easy bit of putting it all back together...

I was thinking along the lines of kids travel free if accompanied by a teddy bear!;)

Mmmmm, picnics outside the Black Lion at Consall...... (or should that be the Three Lions:eek:???? - when OAPWay cruised past on Wednesday the pub seemed to have been re-named - hopefully just for Euro 2016 though)
