I have a pair of Victorian Cast Iron Bench Ends which, I am led to believe, are a design used by the LMS - see photo. (Note: The incorrect woodwork has since been removed and the 'Ends' are now loose).

Both ends are Left Hand items, rather than a Left and a Right. The difference is hardly noticeable and is only that the Armrest have a very slight bend in them, not noticeable in the attached photo.

They are both in very good condition with no damage.

I am looking to exchange these two Ends for a pair of Ends 'Without' the armrests, as seen at the NYMR - again see photo.

Can anyone help? Please PM me if you can.

The more usual arrangement of a Midland Railway seat was the legs with arm rests at each end and an 'armless' set of legs in the centre. The Goathland bench in your picture above seems to be constructed from three 'central' type legs and therefore may be a less accurate reconstruction. (Information from 'Midland Style' by the Historic Model Railway Society, published 1975/78.) The armrests may give extra support to the back, which is why the standard arrangement used them?

The Goathland bench is of North Eastern Railway origin. Although "rustic" in design, the NER seats were quite different from the Midland type.

    Thanks for all the replies.

As mentioned, I am looking for a pair of the North Eastern Railway 'Rustic' bench ends/supports (for want of a better description) as identified by flaman (above).

I would be willing to sell the two 'Midland Style' bench ends if anyone is interested.

Yes, with your comment I've looked again at the Goathland photo and realised the legs join below the seat rather than at the seat as the MR ones do; my apologies!
