At a guess, its operationally expedient to drag the train to Chinley for turning, then do the diesel leg to Manchester from Preston on the return, the latter having been in the plan for a while.

But it is not an adverse condition...

T&Cs state that a diesel is used in adverse conditions.

That said, maybe let's not start the debate as to whether this tour runs as sold or even runs at all... A couple of weeks to go yet and the symbol may just be an error.

The debate is done. There is no will to be straight with customers and the market will decide the outcome.

Alles klar. Anyway, I too have said my pieces on the matter several times, so I'll be leaving it at that. It seems 45690 is back on the menu, too.

Well marketing still has Leander and 76084 and we know its a 5 + 4. Not a problem. But let's hold our powder...

Correction. Yes indeed Leander is reinstated. Still holding powder..

Perhaps a black 5 couldn't be sourced. If the speculation about route restrictions for a Jub is correct though......

Back in September, 45690 was supposed arrive and depart via Peak Forest, taking two sides of Chinley triangle in the process, so if Whaley Bridge is indeed an issue, then this could be an alternative.

This Tour will be steam hauled throughout with Leander and the class 4 76079
there will be no diesel assistance on the back or anywhere else
we do need a few more bookings before we can confirm this tour
Its important we can run this train as its the class 4s first mainline trip
WE need to support the owning group

The class 4's first mainline trip was actually supposed to have been Buxton on 4th Feb, which had a more interesting routing of which i was one of those passengers supporting the owning group ;-)

Instead I'll hopefully be able to support them and sample it on 18th March to Whitby

Hope this Buxton trip does run for some friends booked on it
