Just looking at RTT and see the last two miles took a while today...

Does anyone know the reason for the delay?

Edit: Just seen a Youtube video of the train arriving at Victoria hauled by a 67 with Tornado hanging off the back, so perhaps a failure of some sort.

I think the 67 was on the rear all trip, so guess a reversal was necessary then a re-route to enable the train to arrive diesel first?

That seems very strange. If the train had managed to get beyond Pouparts Junction without any mishap then it is hard to see what could have happened between there and Victoria. Even if there had been a problem with the loco, surely the diesel could have pushed it into Victoria. No doubt we will learn in due course but I wonder if there was a signalling problem that meant the train had to be sent elsewhere to reverse so that it could be pulled back into Victoria.

It does seem strange. A very cursory glance at Victoria arrivals (using RTT) for around the time Tornado was due in didn't reveal any other delays, which one might have expected if there was a signalling problem. But as you say, all (or at least some!) will no doubt be revealed in due course.

Platform 6 was in use between the due and actual (supposed) arrival times. I see there is this path (not activated) starting at 18.30 (from Platform 2). RTT sometimes picks up odd times when trains do unexpected things or reversals etc and I wonder if this is what has happened?

I think I've put two and two together and made five...

The footage of Tornado being dragged into Victoria is actually dated 16/12 so isn't the end of today's trip.

So as jumper suggested, it might be an RTT anomaly rather than a really late arrival

It seems to have been an RTT anomaly that has caused the supposed very late arrival back into Victoria.
Just been watching a Video clip by the Modster entitled the Christmas Tornado that shows Tornado arriving into Victoria at 1605 and the ECS leaving at 1630 behind 67012 Link follows

Open TrainTimes confirms a 16.08/ 3L arrival, so this must surely be an RTT anomaly.

The glitch on RTT is the empty stock going round the Longhedge Junction, Stewart's Lane Junction triangle to turn the stock so it is right way round for its next outing. The manoeuvre is carried out every time but seems to have been recorded at the end of the main run on RTT

Thanks everyone. The thing that puzzled me was the total lack of information; had it been that late, there would have been a post about it somewhere. Mystery solved!
