Making its first moves on December 13, it won’t be long before ‘BB’ No. 34081 92 Squadron is joined by rebuilt classmate No. 34053 Sir Keith Park at the Nene Valley Railway.

Rebuilt ‘Battle of Britain’ No. 34053 Sir Keith Park will appear alongside its classmate and NVR resident, No. 34081 92 Squadron, the first time the pair have worked together in preservation.

The former will be making its debut over Nene Valley metals, and is visiting courtesy of Southern Locomotives Ltd and the Severn Valley Railway.

The latter will be hauling its first public trains following the completion of its recent ten-year overhaul, the ‘Spam Can’ moving under its own steam for the first time in eight years on December 13 (See separate story).

No. 34081 92 Squadron will be running without nameplates and enamel crests during the event, as owning group Battle of Britain Locomotive Society plans to hold a formal rededication ceremony later in the year.

The NVR’s ‘Bulleid 50’ event is just the first in a year long programme of celebrations being held on preserved railways across the country throughout 2017, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the end of steam on the Southern Region.
