Accident involving GW Mogul 7311

    I have added a small collection of photos featuring GW Mogul 7311 involved in a derailment/accident on/around 25th September 1952

    Does anyone have any info on location, what happened?

    Harold Gasson mentions it in one of his books. I have his book of his time on the shovel but not as a signalman, and I think it's in there. I don't remember what he said or how much detail he gave, though.

    i think that was a Saint That Mr Gasson mentioned. Took out the signalbox as I recall. There was a fatal accident in 1942 and I think that might be the one Gasson refers to.

    The accident with 7311 looks like a minor run through the bufferstops.

    In one of the photos at least it does show a wrecked Lever frame from a Signal Box.

    Yes, my memory is that Gasson wrote about the Saint incident in 1942 in which there were deaths.

    7311s wasn't that minor though as it destroyed the signal box.
