Has 7821 arrived at the West Somerset yet in time for the santa season? All the hype around the sale seems to have gone quiet now

The last news item on the wsr.org web site said that the loco was going to LNWR Heritage at Crewe for the boiler to be detubed to see if an extension to the ticket was possible.

..but as you say, no news for a while.

Well i did see 7821 outside tescos at Crewe the other week and still looked to be untouched from when it left the CVR.

Maybe she was shopping for eggs to cure the leaks?!!!

absolutely no work has taken place on the manor since it touched down at Crewe. or certainly nothing that the naked eye can see. I dont know if any inspections etc have taken place, but i have spoken to 1 or 2 who work at LNWR and they describe her as at best "tired".

Well at the end of its boiler ticket a boiler inspector suggested scrapping everything below the whistle so their diagnosis sounds correct!

This question was raised on the WSR email news group and the following was posted by Robin White, the chairman of the WSRA......

"I would be pleased if this could be posted as an 'official' reply to the NP site.

There is a (largely paper) process going on at the moment to see if the WSR's insurers will accept that the condition of the boiler and the records are such that they will allow an extension of its use for a short period without significant work. That process cannot be hurried and will determine what work it is sensible to do to DM this side of its 10 year overhaul.

    Regards

    Robin White
    Chairman, WSRA"

Its totally stripped down. Boiler in the boiler park minus front tubeplate. For repairs to the front angle ring by the looks of it as that is sitting under the boiler with various sections cut out.

Chassis in the machine shop, minus front buffer beam undergoing work either to collision damage or to the pistons and valves or both? Not sure if the chassis recieved any damage though. also a heavy clean (possible repaint?) taking place.

tricks are good, 80072 and 24 left this week, so a bit more space on the concrete now.

wont take long to fill it up again though

Hearing you on that one Mate

At least in these credit crunch times the pile of boilers down there should at least keep you busy for the next 10 years. lol

    What you on now?

"The Boss" mentioned it was absolute hell for leather on the brit now

Could a moderator move this thread to "Steam Traction" please. It is out of place under "galas and events".

    Updates on 7821? Boiler OK?

(And since been mentioned already, how is 1450? Will they start a brand new 'ticket' or not bother)

I thought 7821 was quite poorly, she's never been quite as good as the other preserved Manor's. Is there still a chance of an extension then??
