    Just watched this approaching Northallerton, courtesy of Open Time Trains. She's a few minutes early, and I thought she might get held to her path, and have to wait at the approach signal for a TPE from Middlesbrough to do its Northallerton call, then follow, but I see that Control have let her through first. Nice :)

    Several years ago WCR installed a water hydrant near the "shed" in the station yard for Northbound charters.
    When they used the fire hydrant in the station car park in the past, they must have had a problem of people parking cars on top of the hydrant, particularly when the station car park was full.
    Usually, they unlock the gate to the yard, to allow people to park when a steam charter is using Hellified - but beware the gate is locked at 4pm by the buffet staff, I understand
    Hellified, as station has nice atmosphere, with its own railway buffet, which I am sure they owners are pleased the S&C is now open again for business, and it will get more customers on steam charter days.
