After Bittern's postponed return to Alton on Monday please can anyone confirm if this move is actually taking place today ? I'd rather not waste the diesel on a wild goose chase.

    Thanks

I've seen no reports yet ! There is apparently major disruption of signalling in the Taunton area following an overnight incident ("a flash and a bang")involving a crane which was attempting to rerail several wagons which had been derailed at Fairwater Yard on Saturday. Apparently the signals west of Taunton have been "knackered" and temporary block working is in force. Not sure of the details but since trains leaving the WSR have to cross to the (reversible) down relief alongside Fairwater Yard, they may have been delayed.

Thanks - I went out anyway as it was a nice afternoon. It still hadn't appeared east of Swindon by 15:00, so if they are still moving today they're at least 2 hours down

Presumably it did not happen on Wednesday then, I was at Bentley Heath crossing from 4pm to 6 pm along with another guy who had been there since 3. How the info from the now removed signalbox is missed.

I got the gen about it being caped at 15:50, Fireboxchaser had already posted by the time i got back from Widney Manor*, haven't seen anything about a reschedule yet, presumably Fairwater Yard is still in farce mode ?.

    * For some of the locals who are not yet aware, the shot south from the end of Widney Manor car park is back on again, the Portacabin has been removed.

45231 is returning to Bury by road tomorrow (Friday). 4936 is staying on WSR for a few days, possibly until after Easter, until NR can accept movements from WSR and WCR can provide a crew for mainline return to Tyseley.
