Here she is making a really noisy departure from Ascot, where the first half mile is on a curving 1 in 120 upslope. Turn your speakers up to 11 :)

Good heavens a Steam Dreams train without a DL? Whatever next?

46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' giving a proper delight with today's "The Cathedrals Express", seen just outside of Oxford

My footage of 46233 today, filmed just outside Kingham this afternoon and charging up Sapperton Bank this evening, seen from the foot crossing on the eastern side of Frampton Mansell. I hope you enjoy! :)

Murky old evening tonight at Ashbury Crossing but the Duchess looked (and sounded) terrific hammering along the Great Western main line!

It was sunny when I arrived at the lineside after work, by the time The Duchess arrived at Purton, Wilts however, the heavens had opened and all was gloomy

'Thunder in the Golden Valley' - 46233 roars up Sapperton in some appalling light, moments before the heavens opened!

A brief clip of her passing loudly through Earley Station this evening as the light was fading. For the second time today feeling lucky as the train on the near line was not a few seconds earlier!

Thanks for sharing. Due to traffic and early running of the Duchess I only made it to the car park of the pub above the crossing at FM in time to see the double chimney roaring past below me :(

Eckington...the view from the river bank is not so good at the moment due to vegitation. It was also a bit busy over there by the time I arrived, so I went for another angle.

It's good to see that Steam Dreams have the confidence once again to run a steam charter that is hauled by a steam locomotive. I appreciate that there will always be situations where a diesel is required to run in the consist but after witnessing the Duchess attack the incline to Sapperton yesterday I feel it must be gratifying for the passengers aboard the train to know that the steam locomotive up front is doing all of the work.

Well done to Steam Dreams, West Coast and the support crews. <BJ>

Another location up Sapperton Bank compared to previous posts, but here it is near the viaduct in terrible light just before the heavens opened. Enjoy.

Excellent sequence. Glad you chose to run the camera well before she came into sight so we could hear the Duchess' unique four cylinder beat reverberating around the Golden Valley.

I couldn't not leave it running. Haven't heard such a roar from the Duchess before, usually it's just a gentle gallop. Cheers

I'm very fond of the Duchess, but during my past experiences riding behind her and watching her from the lineside she always seemed a bit muted, as though she was being nursed. Am I right in thinking that, during her recent outings, she has been let off the leash a bit more?
