Yes indeed Liam, looking forward to this train too.

In the meantime, can anyone be of assistance in deciphering the various moves around Carnforth for Leander as the loco comes off shed ?
    As detailed in RTT 5Z90:

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10990/2015/03/21/advanced

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Alan

A series of loco moves; if I recall the sequence correctly -

    (1) Loco moves from Carnforth WCRC to headshunt

    (2) Loco moves from headshunt through rear of station (Furness platforms) to Up & Down Goods Loop

    (3) Loco moves from Goods Loop onto main line through Furness platform to diverge right onto Carnforth - Hellifield line

    (4) Loco arrives at Hellifield Loop (West side) to await arrival of train from Tyseley

    Hope this helps

Many thanks for your help there Fred, it makes sense now along with the overhead view on Google Earth. Of course, total enlightenment will be attained whilst viewing the proceedings on Saturday morning - can't wait!!

    Cheers

Thanks Shep, good to see you both also. A shame about the Scot. Not good, so early in the season.

Was a lovely bonus to be able to catch sight of Leander at Carlisle after I had arrived on the WCME behind 46115. A dash to London Road junction nailed this view.

It does look rather lovely in black, I must say!

Great trip and footage. Thanks to all concerned for doing their bit.
Looking forward already to next years VT "Cumbrian" Merchant, Princess, King, Castle or even Scotsman perhaps?

Magnificent. Captures the atmosphere exactly. We were on the train and the climb was very good with a sustained 36-38 mph over the last few miles of the climb with 11 for about 420 tons.
